Custom Course Descriptions

1

This course discusses the fundamentals of Java and J-Link. It provides students with the knowledge of effectively using J-Link to automate Pro/Engineer objects. The course will teach creating Java interfaces to interact with Pro/Engineer. This is a extensive hands on course, in which students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through Pro/Engineer automation examples, such as modifying multiple model parameter, verifying multiple family tables, and connecting to a database to extract part information. The course covers the development of Java programs to access the internal components of a Pro/Engineer sessions, to customize models.

Prerequisites

Lessons and exercises require that you have familiarity with Java or C programming principles and concepts with a extensive knowledge of Pro/Engineer.

Pro/INTRALINK Java Scripting covers the basic functionality of automating Pro/INTRALINK utilizing Java. The course is mostly hands-on focusing on creating Pro/INTRALINK scripts, the methods of using Pro/INTRALINK scripting, and concepts necessary to automate Pro/INTRALINK. A student will learn how to manipulate multiple Pro/Engineer objects such as changing revisions, release levels, parameters, folder locations, renaming, and many more. The course goal is to provide a user with the foundation to understand how to automate certain ever day Pro/INTRALINK operations to save time and money for a company.

Prerequisites

Lessons and exercises assume that you have familarity with basic programming principles and concepts with the understanding of Pro/INTRALINK and Pro/Engineer.

This course discusses the fundamentals of Pro/ENGINEER automation utilizing Pro/PROGRAM. It provides students to understand the philosophy and concepts of automating Pro/ENGINEER assemblies and parts. The course teaches the essentials to understand types of building blocks that are available and to employ program construction principles. The student will understand how to use execute statements, feature relations, part relations, assembly relations, pattern relations, input statements, and the Pro/Layout functionality. They will also learn how to automate drawings using layer states and view states. The course will explain interchange groups and family tables in the Pro/PROGRAM environment.

Prerequisites

Lessons and exercises assume that you have used Pro/Engineer.

5

Performance Modeling melds the intended purpose of Pro/ENGINEER functionality with practical application. This course draws on many years of practical Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/INTRALINK, and Windchill PDMLink experience to offer functionality and methodologies proven to shorten the design process and simplify design changes.

The goal of Performance Modeling is to reduce modeling time, simplify design changes, improve the quality and integrity of designs, advanced assemlby techniques, and ease administration of Pro/ENGINEER and data management tools such as Pro/INTRALINK and Windchill PDMLink.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for experienced Pro/ENGINEER users who have taken Introduction to Pro/ENGINEER or other introductory training.

6

PDMLink User Interaction is tailored to designers who use Pro/ENGINEER and need to use Windchill PDMLink to control their designs and ProjectLink to share designs with the extended enterprise. This course applies more focus on the interaction between Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill solutions than traditional PTC training classes. In addition to Windchill architecture and common data management tasks described in PTC training courses, learn how to:

  1. Create and manage workspaces to improve performance and minimize disruptions when working with designs of any size.
  2. Manually migrate data from the hard drive or Pro/INTRALINK 3.x into Windchill PDMLink.
  3. Resolve common upload and check-in conflicts using the proper techniques to get the desired results.
  4. Recognize, avoid, and resolve incomplete objects (i.e. "ghost objects").

This course may be taken independently, but we recommend students also take Windchill PDMLink User and Windchill ProjectLink User training classes in either instructor-led or web-based formats to round out their Windchill capabilities understanding.

After completing this course, students should be able to successfully use Windchill PDMLink. The course is taught using Windchill 9.0.

Prerequisites

This course is intended for experienced Pro/ENGINEER users.
